Chapter 5: Graduation Ceremony

Isla's p.o.v

I am very excited since today is my graduation ceremony. I am officially going to be a lawyer. My dream is going to come true.

I got ready and went to university along with my family.

We entered the university when Jenny and Dylan met us.

" Hello everyone", They said to us. Three of us were wearing the graduation gown.

" How are you both??", Mom asked them.

" We are good", Jenny replied.

" Congratulations on finally becoming lawyers", Dad said to them.

" Thank you", They replied to Dad.

We talked for a few minutes before heading towards the hall where the ceremony is organised by the University.

Students were arranged to sit in the front row while families were arranged to sit in the back rows.

Aaron had not reached here till now. I hope he can come to my graduation ceremony. It's a big day for me and I wish he can be a part of it. He is my inspiration for becoming a lawyer.

I remembered how he helped me and many other girls like me with the help of law. He had fought those cases himself and won them.

I also want to help innocent people through my profession.

I wish to receive my degree from him.

" What happened?? Why this sad face???", Avery asked me, whispering.

" He is not here", I replied.

" Dad, When is Aaron coming??", Avery asked on behalf of me.

Avery doesn't call Aaron uncle because Aaron is too young to be called uncle by twenty-four years old niece.

" I don't know. I tried calling him but he is not answering.", Dad tried.

" Don't be sad. It's your big day. He will be here soon. Don't worry", Avery said, seeing my sad face.

I nodded my head listening to her.

" What are you both whispering?", Jenny asked, suspiciously.

" Nothing", I replied. Only Avery knows about my feelings towards Aaron. It's not that I don't trust Jenny and Dylan but I don't like to share my secrets with others except Avery.

Avery has been with me since childhood. She had protected me like a big sister. I am very comfortable with her. Also, I don't need to tell her anything, she understands my feelings without saying anything.

" Let's go to our seats", Dylan said to us.

I told my parents about it and took my leave along with Jenny and Dylan.

We settled ourselves in the front row. After some time, the ceremony started. Our Dean gives a speech to motivate us.

" Today, we have invited a very special guest. He had achieved many things at such a small age. He is an inspiration for many law students. He is the best lawyer in the State. He had not lost a  single case till now. Please welcome my old student and State's best lawyer, Aaron Miller.", Dean announced.

I was surprised to hear Aaron's name.

Aaron entered wearing a  three-piece suit. He was looking hot and sexy. He had a dominant aura around him making him stand out among others.

Everyone was admiring him and his personality.

A smile appeared on my face seeing him on the stage.

Soon, our professors started inviting students on stage to receive their degrees from Aaron one by one.

" Isla Miller", They announced my name.

I slowly went to the stage to receive my degree.

" Congratulations", Aaron said smiling while giving  degree.

" Thank you", I replied smiling. Finally, my wish comes true. I have received my degree from his hands.

After receiving the degree, I went to my seat.

After some time, the ceremony ends.

I went towards my parents.

" Dad, Mom", I said, emotionally.

Dad hugged me and said," We are proud of you."

I smiled hearing him.

" Dad, do you know about Aaron being the special guest??", Avery asked.

" Yup", Dad replied.

" You did not tell us", Avery said, narrowing her eyes.

" Because it was a surprise and I know you will tell Isla as soon as you know, spoiling the surprise", Dad explained.

Avery stuck her tongue outside naughtily, knowing which Dad said is true.

" Isla!! You are here. We are finding you to click pictures", Dylan said.

" Even, we want to click pictures", Avery said.

For the next half an hour, we click pictures, making beautiful memories. Aaron didn't join us since he needed to talk with the Dean and other professors.

Half an hour later, we went home.

Avery and I were about to leave for our rooms when…

" We are going out for dinner tonight to celebrate Isla's success,'' Dad announced.

" Yeah!!", Avery shouted.

" Thank you, Dad, Mom", I replied.

Avery and I went to my room.

" You got a best surprise from your Aaron", Avery said, teasing me.

" Don't tease me", I replied, blushing.

"I am happy for you", She said.

" I am worried about last weekend. What if he asked me about it?", I said, worriedly.

" I don't think he knows anything. Don't worry, we will handle everything.", She said, encouraging me.

" How was your meeting with Ian's family?", I asked her.

" Great!! I liked his family. They are so sweet. He is the only child of his parents. Ian and his family want to meet our family. I have to talk with Dad about it.", Avery told me.

" Why don't you tell them tonight after dinner?", I suggested.

" Today is your special day. I don't want to create problems", she said.

" Nothing will happen. I don't have any problem. You should talk today", I replied.

" You sure?", She asked.

" 100% Sure!!", I replied.

" Thank you", She said, hugging me.

In the evening, we got ready and went to my favourite restaurant. Dad had already booked a separate cabin for us.

We settled ourselves on our seats.  After five minutes, the door opened and Aaron entered the cabin.

" Hello", He said, greeting everyone.

We ordered our favourite food.

" Aaron!! I was thinking, Isla could do her internship in your firm if you have no problem", Dad asked Aaron.

" I don't have any problem if she is ready", Aaron said and looked towards me with his piercing eyes.

My heart started beating faster than normal, feeling his gaze on me.

" I don't have any problem", I replied.

" Good!! See you on Monday morning. I don't like latecomers so be on time. In the office, I am only your boss. You will be treated like any other employee so don't expect me to be lenient towards you just because you are family", Aaron said strictly.

" I understood", I said, nodding my head.

" He is right. Always keep your personal and professional life separate. If he will treat you like family in the office, you will not be able to learn anything", Dad said.

I nodded my head in acceptance.

The waiter served our food before going outside.

Dad and Aaron were talking about business while we were silently having our dinner.

" You should talk about Ian", I whispered to Avery.

She nodded her head before coughing slightly to gain attention.

" I want to talk about something", Avery said hesitantly.

" What do you want to talk about?", Mom asked her.

" I ….I...love someone", Avery announced.

" What??", Dad asked.

" I love someone and I want to marry him", Avery said.

" But you are a child. It's not an age to get married", Dad said, shocking us.

" Dad!! I am not a child. I am 24 years old.", Avery said, feeling annoyed.

" But …", " She is not a child, Justin. I married you when I was just 20 years old", mom said, stopping Dad from saying anything.

Dad whimpered hearing Mom.

" Stella is saying right, Justin", Aaron said in his dominant voice, trying to make Dad understand.

" But how will I know he is best for my princess?", Dad argued.

" Who said she is getting married tomorrow? You should meet the boy and then decide anything", Aaron said.

" Thank you", Avery said to Aaron for supporting her. Aaron gives her a small smile in exchange.

" Fine!!  Who is he??"Dad asked, sulking.

" You know him. His name is Ian", Avery said.

" Our client??", Dad asked, raising his eyebrows.

" Yes", Avery said.

" Invite him tomorrow for dinner", Dad announced.

Avery nodded her head.

" You are spending this weekend with us, right??"Dad asked Aaron.

" Yes", Aaron replied.

I am happy to hear this. Mostly Aaron didn't like to spend his night in Miller Mansion. He liked to sleep in his own house.

We finished our dinner and went home.

I went to my room and climbed the bed after changing my clothes.

Aaron's room is close to my room. We both have our room on the second floor while my parents and Avery have their room on the first floor.

Aaron had not mentioned anything about last weekend which means he didn't know it was me whom he had kissed randomly in the club.

I was thinking about Aaron when my eyes felt heavy. I closed my eyes and fell into dreamland.

For a second, I feel someone kissing my forehead and neck. I brushed it aside thinking, I am having a dream once again.
